AUM Meditation
Aum is a manthra. Manthra means a sound which is pronounced in a certain way with a particular form of vibration. Entire existence is nothing but the reverberations of energy in different levels of vibrations. Where there is a vibration, there is bound to be a sound. Hence the whole existence is a kind of sound, or a complex combination of sounds.
AUM is the primordial Cosmic Sound that vibrates in every atom of the Universe. It represents the three vibratory states of Existence – creation (A – Akaar), Sustenance (U – Ukaar) and Dissolution (M – Makaar). Hence when we chant AUM, it helps to create new energy, preserve the existing inbuilt energy and helps to clear the unwanted energy in the system.
In deep silence, one can hear AUM sound within, hence AUM can also be called the sound of silence. Also AUM is a monosyllable with the uniqueness of being pronounced easily even by the vocally impaired.
