Vashishta Maharishi is a Rig Veda Rishi and also the most revered Rishi. Vashishta Maharishi is a manasaputra (mind-born son) of Lord Brahma and hence a Brahmarishi by birth. He is best known as the chief preceptor of King Dasharatha and Guru of Lord Rama. He is one of the Saptharishis of the present manvantara. In the network of Saptharishis, he is known as Kulapati Vashishta.

His glories are eternal and powers are limitless, yet he is very humble. His missions are always secretive, and he is always silent about his accomplishments. To become and to be a disciple of Vashishta Maharishi is not easy.

He lives in Sathya loka and his station on our earth is at Mount Abu. He is the Head of the Saptharishis Mandala (Ursa Major). He is a lead Rishi alongside Vishvamithra Maharishi, Athri Maharishi, Markandeya Maharishi and a few others who conduct divine yagnas on important occasions. For one hundred years, Vashishta Maharishi and His consort Mata Arundati Devi performed tapas in a cave near the bank of River Ganges outside of Rishikesh in a place called Vashistha Gufa.
