Jyothi Aradhana is worship of Light as lamp. This is a practice since Vedic times.

It is simply lighting one small flame to invoke divinity and to connect with the source of our divine inspiration.

Agni which is considered purest among the five elements has the power to consume, transform and convey. The principle of conveying is employed in this technique.

It can be done before our prayer or during special times of sadhana or remembrance. Most significant during twilight time.

A lamp is a vessel specially designed to hold oil and a cotton wick. Traditionally, since Vedic times, a clay, brass or silver lamp is used to burn the flame.

In your sadhana or prayer room or a quiet space indoors, place and light the prepared lamp. You may like to keep the flame in front of a photo of your Spiritual Guide, Ishta Devata or any source of inspiration that you wish to connect with through love.

Once the Jyothi is lit, say a prayer of thanks and gratitude to the object of your worship and sit quietly for a few minutes.

Soon, you will find that the room in which the Jyothi burns becomes a place of sadhana, bathed in the energy of peace and beauty; and through this flame you begin to feel and create a link between the individual consciousness and the Cosmic consciousness. In this way, you begin to communicate with and invoke the divine into your life.

The lamp may also be kept lit all throughout the day and night to strengthen the connection. This practice is known as Akhanda Jyoti Aradhana.

Agni which is considered purest among the five elements has the power to consume, transform and convey. The principle of conveying is employed in this technique. Agni acts as a bridge between the form and formless. It connects our soul to the divine consciousness or Chaitanya.
